Greetings fellow science teachers! While mentoring national board candidates, I discovered the need for science teachers in our area to network. Therefore, I am hosting two sessions at the Fall Institute. The first session is intended to share the “nuts and bolts” of teaching science. I would like this to be a forum where we can ask questions and share answers. For example: How do you manage inquiry-based labs? How do you resupply materials between classes? How do you manage roles in lab groups? How do you use your Smart board? The second session will be a share fest. In order for the share fest to be successful, I would like as many activities as possible to be submitted in advance so that I can have cds ready to hand out. I am also encouraging you to bring thumb drives or even multiple hard copies of lessons that are yearly successes. If you would like to bring materials to demonstrate your activity, let me know. These two sessions would be a way to meet other teachers in your area and get some fresh ideas. I see these sessions as being beneficial to both new and veteran teachers. Please contact me if you have any ideas or questions.
